Wedding Dance Lessons

Your First-Dance can be a magical experience as you open the wedding-reception dance floor to your admiring guests, or it can be a lackluster “prom-shuffle.” As you prepare for your wedding day, dance lessons taught by topnotch instructors amid the sumptuous surroundings of Arthur Murray Clearwater, will not only help you attain a polished First-Dance, but can be fun and relaxing date-nights! Indeed, dance lessons are a beautiful wedding gift to each other that last a lifetime.

Here are some TIPS from the experts, for the bride and groom, on learning to dance for YOUR BIG DAY:

  • Leisurely browse our website. Get to know our outstanding instructors, review the various dance styles, check out the Craft Parlor and Friday Nights, and have fun taking a VIRTUAL TOUR of our luxurious dance studio; it is truly unique! The more you know us, the more comfortable you will be Walking in before you Dance out!
  • Initiate your dance lessons early—especially if you are newcomers to dancing. Optimally, dance instructors recommend starting your lessons four to six months before your wedding to allow more time for practice and for muscle memory to form. Don’t have that much time? Your steps are still safe as a lovely First-Dance can be taught even within a short timeframe.
  • Your schedule is likely to get very hectic as your wedding day approaches. Plan a dance lesson at least once a week to get the most from your lessons.
  • Wedding dance lessons can be as extravagant or intimate as you desire. Do consider the options for Wedding-Party, Daddy-Daughter, Mother-Son, Grandparent-Bride/Groom and darling Flower Girl-Ring Bearer routines. These special dances give you and the participants very special memories of your wedding.
  • Parents of the bride and/or groom may also want to take dance lessons to add to their enjoyment of the happy occasion. Remember to tell them about this fun possibility!
  • Unfamiliar with ballroom dances? Your instructor will acquaint you with the many styles available from the romantic Waltz to the bouncy Swing. Of course, your instructor will work on incorporating your creative ideas into your First-Dance. Be sure to let your instructor know if you want a traditional ballroom dance style or a choreographed routine.
  • If you have your special song chosen, bring it with you; if not, we can help you select a song that reflects your feelings, wedding theme, and dance preference.
  • Dancing can be an effective stress reliever, so don’t put too much pressure on each other. Be patient and have a fun date night while learning.
  • Don’t try to teach your fiancé. Your dance lessons will be much more fun and relaxing if you let your instructor do the teaching.
  • Practice in the right shoes. Wear shoes to your lessons that are similar to the ones you’ll be wearing on the big day.
  • Be consistent with your appointments. The more often you come in, the less review there will be on each lesson.
  • Take advantage of Arthur Murray Clearwater parties and activities to hone your dancing skills in an atmosphere similar to your wedding reception. This will help you to become more comfortable and natural as you navigate the dancefloor while it is occupied by other dancers.
  • ENJOY MAKING THE PREPARATIONS FOR YOUR BIG DAY!
